The principle of common will
156. Others have proposed common will as the principle of duties and of human rights. But who will oblige me to submit if I do not wish to do so? I need a preceding law that tells me I am obliged to consent to the will of others. If the common good is indicated in place of law, we return to the system of sociality or utility that we have examined.
