The Right Of Seigniory In Theocratic Society

Chapter 2

The fullness and absoluteness of divine seigniory

538. There is no seigniory except God's, which is essential and fully absolute.

539. Natural reason, as well as revelation, affirms without doubt this fullness of dominion, expressed very succinctly by St. Paul, `In him we live and move and have our being'.(40) That is, we owe our existence to him as to the one who has made us pass from non-being to being. We also owe him our existence at every moment, and everything that we have along with existence. All things subsist by power of that divine act which continually makes them subsist as they are at every instant and as they operate.

Notes
